I'm a complete beginner. Will I be OK ?
We stage a "complete beginners" course each January and 6-8 weeks prior to
the annual Race For Life (Check our training schedule for specific dates).
I've done some running before should I come along to the beginners' sessions ?
You can join one of the groups in the main club run.
When you come you'll be able to choose the one that you think will suit you best.
How fit do I need to be ?
If you can jog and walk for a couple of miles you'll be fine.
There is always someone who welcomes a chance for a walk and will keep you company.
Do I need to buy special running shoes ?
No, a pair of ordinary trainers will do for a start, but after a while it may be worth getting some advice from a specialist running shop.
You will probably want to think about buying a running bra as well.
As a Sole Sister you can, on production of your membership card, get a discount at Easy Runner and Sweatshop.
Will it help me lose weight ?
You'll burn 100 calories per mile and running will also help to
boost your metabolism. Of course, if you reward yourself for going
out on a run by going home and eating a cream doughnut it may take
slightly longer for you to shift those extra pounds !
Do I just turn up or do I need to let someone know I'm coming ?
Please just turn up at your desired location.
